Afghan Star question
The documentary, "Afghan Star" uses the prize narrative (Street, 2005, p.832) to explore what defines "Afghan identity". How is this identity represented?
This is a really perceptive question. If I understood your question correctly, I think Afghan identity was slowly put together and unveiled (what a word to use!) as the contestants subsequently got lesser and lesser till finally the announcement of the true Afghan Star; the one who should best represent or relate to the Afghan voters.
I think there are various Afghan identities represented. The documentary problematises the idea that there is a single Afghan identity. I came away from the film aware of the ethnic and cultural diversity of a huge, complex country.
